Cuidar Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 7, 2026.
Cuidar is a hydration and medication reminder app for iPhone and Android. This policy explains what information the app keeps, where it is kept, what leaves your device and only when you choose to, and what your rights are.
Summary
- Everything you log stays on your device only.
- Cuidar does not require an account, does not collect data for the developer, has no ads and no usage analytics.
- The only optional feature that sends anything out is prescription reading from a photo: the photo is sent for transcription only after you allow it, and it is not stored.
- You can delete all your data at any time, inside the app.
Information the app keeps on your device
To work, Cuidar keeps in your device's storage the information you enter yourself:
- your name or nickname and the answers to the initial questions (for example, whether a professional gave you fluid guidance);
- medications you added, their times and doses, and the history of confirmations (taken, snoozed or skipped);
- water logs and reminder settings;
- contacts you chose for the “I need help” button;
- photos of a medication box or prescription, if you choose to attach them;
- accessibility preferences (text size, read aloud).
This information is not sent to the developer or to third parties. It is removed when you use More → My data → Delete everything or when you uninstall the app.
Prescription reading from a photo (optional)
When adding a medication, you can take a photo of the prescription or the box so the form is filled in as a draft. This only happens after you give permission in the app, and you can withdraw it at any time in More → My data. When you use it:
- the photo is sent to the Cuidar server (hosted on Supabase) and from there to the artificial-intelligence service that transcribes it (Anthropic's API);
- the photo is used only for that transcription and is not stored on the server or by the developer;
- the server records only an anonymous identifier and the date of each reading, to limit the number of readings per day; it does not keep the image, the medication name or any health information;
- the result is a draft that you check before saving; nothing is saved automatically.
If you never use this feature, nothing leaves your device.
System permissions
- Notifications: used only for the reminders you set up. Notifications are generated on the device itself.
- Camera and photos: used only if you want to attach an image to a medication or read a prescription from a photo. The attached image stays on the device.
- Exact alarms (Android): make sure the reminder arrives at the time you set.
- Phone: the “I need help” button opens the dialer with the chosen contact; the app does not place calls on its own and does not access your call history.
Read aloud
Read aloud uses the system's own speech synthesizer. The text being read does not leave the device.
Sharing with a caregiver
In this version, the feature to share logs with a caregiver is not active. If it is offered in a future version, it will require an action from you to turn on, and this policy will be updated beforehand, describing which data would be sent and where.
Children
Cuidar is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Health notice
Cuidar is a tool to support your routine. It does not diagnose, prescribe, calculate doses or goals, and does not replace guidance from health professionals. It is not an emergency service: in an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number.
Your rights
Because your data stays on your device, you have full control over it: you can view it, change it, export it (More → My data → Export my data) and delete it inside the app. The developer does not process personal data, except for the optional photo reading described above, which keeps no personal data.
Changes to this policy
If the app starts handling data differently, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change.
